Jacqueline Fernandez has been booked for hurting religious sentiments and criminal charges has been filed against her. Dishoom star was seen wearing Kirpan in one of the songs, which has irked Sikh community. Along with Jacqueline, charges are also pressed against director Rohit Dhawan, and producer Sajid Nadiadwala.
The Dishoom actress is wearing a dagger, which looks like a Kirpan, in one of Dishoom’s songs. Nadiadwala, meanwhile, has already denied hurting religious sentiments, saying that the dagger shown in the movie is not Kirpan, but an Arabic sword.
“The song depicts a semi-clad actress Jacqueline Fernandez, dancing with a Kirpan, dangling in front of her legs and supported by a cloth belt worn around the waist by the actress and thereby made the mockery of the sacredness and respect of the religious symbols of Kirpan.” general secretary, DSGMC, Manjinder Singh Sirsa said.
Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has also written a letter to Central Board of Film Certification to get the song removed from the movie. DSGMC has termed it an act of hurting Sikhs’ sentiments, and has asked for a public apology from the makers of the movie.
“If CBFC fails to take appropriate action in this context, DSGMC will be compelled to initiate criminal proceedings against the director and case of the ‘Dishoom’ as well as against the CBFC,” the letter reads. Meanwhile, the court will be hearing the complaint on July 1.
