Victor Banerjee, Raima Sen in a movie based on Rabindranath Tagore

 

GlintTv met the cast and crew of the movie ‘Thinking of Him’ and spoke with Victor Banerjee and Raima Sen. The Indo-Argentine co-production will capture a special bond between Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore and Argentine writer and thinker Victoria Ocampo. Ocampo’s role is played by Argentinian actress Aleonora Wexler.

Acting Stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan, Naseeruddin Shah and Ben Kingsley were considered for essaying the role of Tagore, before director Pablo Cesar zeroed in on Victor Banerjee. Both Victor and Raima Sen spoke about being chosen to act in a movie based of Rabindranath Tagore.

Thinking of him delves into platonic relationship between Tagore and Ocampo. Ocampo was addressed in Tagore’s letters as Bijoya. The Argentine writer took care of the Tagore when he fell ill in Buenos Aires. The poet had to spend two months to recover and it was Ocampo, who took care of him in the foreign land.

Tagore later dedicated a collection of poems and songs ‘Purabi’ to Ocampo. The met the second and the last time in 1930, when Ocampo organised Tagore’s first art exhibition in Paris. The title of the film is the telegram sent by Ocampo after Tagore’s death. JNU alumni Suraj Kumar is the creative director of the film.

The film goes on the floor on 5th of September from Shantiniketan.
