Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s whopping Monday; crosses 50-crore mark at box office

Karan Johar has a winner on his hand in Ae Dil Hia Mushkil. After getting some decent numbers on first three days, the movie grossed a whopping INR 17.75 Crores on Monday – thus crossing the 50-crore mark. The movie has collected INR 53.35 Cr at the Indian box office till Monday. 

After collecting INR 13.30 Cr on Friday, INR 13.10 Cr on Saturday, INR 9.20 Cr on Sunday (Diwali), the film’s Monday collection of almost INR 18 Cr is great news for the producers.

Even in overseas market Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has been making presence felt – The movie’s international collection till Sunday had crossed INR 41.05 Cr mark. According to its makers, the film has amassed the second highest international opening weekend for a Bollywood film in 2016 and is the highest opening weekend for a Karan Johar project. 

In the US, “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” collected $2.1 million, while in Britain and Australia, the film raked in $752,000 and $307,045 respectively.

 

The makers had to go through some real tough times as many controversies marred the film’s promotion. Also the Diwali festivities hampered box office numbers for both Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay. Both the films released on October 28, two days before Diwali.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was released in around 3000 screens in India. The film features Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Fawad Khan.
