Yami Gautam finally shines after bumpy ride of controversies

There are many actors doing brand endorsements these days. When we see these advertisements – some we like, some we don’t and some we don’t even remember. I still remember when she caught my eye for the first time. I saw this ‘fair and lovely’ advertisement and I told my mom this girl is so beautiful. Yami Gautam, moving steadily up the ladder, is a Chandigarh based model turned actor. Yami aspired to be an IAS as a young girl and was pursuing her graduate degree in law honours but at the age of 20, Yami decided to pursue her acting career.

Yami made her television debut with ‘Chaand ke paar chalo’ . She played her most notable role in ‘Yeh pyar na hoga kam’ which aired on colors.

Her film career started with a Kannada film ‘ Ullasa Utsaha’ and then came her break in Bollywood movies , a small budget film ‘Vicky donor’ opposite Aayushmann Khurana. She played the role of a Bengali girl who falls in love with a punjabi boy but there is an adult twist in the tale.

The movie was a big success at the box office and received critical appreciation. Taran Adarsh wrote, “Yami gautam makes an imposing debut. She adds enormous value to the movie by her act , screen presence and striking looks.”

She won the coveted filmfare award along with many other like Zee Cine, Star Screen etc in the year 2013, all under the best debut actor-female category.

In 2015 things turned ugly for Yami when Actor Pulkit Samrat’s estranged wife, Shweta Rohira, called her a ‘home breaker’ in a statement. At that time Pulkit and Yami were wrapping up their second film together, ‘Junooniyat.’ Although the two have never admitted to being in a relationship, the alleged love story has gone through many twists and turns ever since rumours of their affair surfaced.

Watch Yami’s sparkling chemistry with Pulkit Samrat during their film ‘Junooniyat’ Promotions.

Yami went on to do some more Hindi movies which did not do well on the box office but she did justice to her roles in each one of them. Her film ‘Total Siyappa’ opposite Ali Zafar saw the same fate as Sanam Re and Junooniyat.

Yami proves the quote ‘failure is success in progress’, absolutely right. All these failures were her work in progress for Kaabil which is a huge success at the box office. She’s looking supple, pretty and lovable in her role of a blind girl who goes through the unimaginable brutality.

What makes me write about Yami is how she has never pulled off a publicity stunt to gain attention, she has not been lucky enough like Anushka and Deepika of the industry who started off with big banners but she has proved that she is no less a performer. Yami Gautam is getting up there on her own talent and hard work. She is an inspiration for all the ladies out there who feel they have it in them to make it big but do not have Yash Raj, Dharma or Bhansali up their sleeves.

I wish sarkar 3  turns out to be a great success for Yami Gautam and may she have an amazing career ahead.
